The only reality show worth watching is "flying wild Alaska".

Please, tell me you are kidding. IMHO, That show is completely over-dramatic and otherwise just awful. The fabricated drama is obsurd. I can't even say that Arial reading the introduction page of the Jeppesen Private Pilot course was entertaining.

Aside from that, allow me to give you all an example of why I don't watch Flying Wild Alaska:

My favorite is when they show the Caravans dubbed over with piston noises.....

Wow.... So thats where the trim tabs are. I always wondered....

I need to watch it some...

On a more serious note, I liked the part of one episode I saw (and I swore I'd never watch again) they were flying south along the Russian border and didn't know where they were. They were worried MIG were going to shoot them down...

I was rolling laughing... GEE we have a GPS I'm sure we know somewhere close to where we are.... Also bear to the left (east) a bit and get away from the border if you are so worried. If not well, maybe Sara Palin can help you....

Strange show. TV really SUX anymore...

It all depends, if you are in a 90degree Pylon turn then the labeling works....

That could make a interesting racing class at Reno... Caravan class! I like the sound of that! You could even make it a contest of who can load up the cargo the fastest, fly the course three times, land, unload, sort, and the winner is determined by who didn't spill their coffee!

What's really fun is trying to explain to the great unwashed that the horizontal stabilizer holds the tail DOWN not UP followed by several sketches demonstrating lift and airflow speed differences and trying to explain old Dan Burnoulis principles and watching eyes glaze over. But, then again it's amazing how many young mechanics look at you like you have horns when you try to explain how a DC-8 or DC-9 is flown off the tabs not the elevators and that tabs Newtonianly operate 'backwards' from which way to move them, down for up and up for down.

I've noticed the pistonish noises over the footage of the 208's too, but I guess it's better than the one cylinder John Deere sounds laid over footage of fighters taxiing on the Military Channel

Like it was stated in earlier posts, a lot of the stuff that is "pawned", is for the ratings. Nothing against pilots, but why would you ask their opinion on an aircraft instead of asking a A&P? :drink3:

That's because pilot's know everything, and are superior in all things of this nature, and every other aspect of life as well. Similar to Chuck Norris in stature and candor, but just don't tell Chuck Norris that. All TV shows know this, which is why whenever there is a plane crash, there is always some local yokel at Uncle Bills's Flying Service that is willing to chime in and talk to the media about the aircraft, which is no doubt superbly and elegantly stated something along the lines of "Well, the cause of the crash is much too soon to be stated or discussed now. There is an entire process that the NSTB must do to figure out the cause of the accident. To say that he stalled and the engine quit is even too soon to state. The best course of action is allow the NTSB time for due process so that the facts are laid out well. It would be wrong to scare people (and be scary to me) into thinking that this crash was mechanical."

Of course inevitably, the media would splice together what he said as "The cause of the crash was he stalled and the engine quit, that's scary to me because it was mechanical".

What were we talking about again?

You can always tell a fighter pilot, but you can't tell him much.

MH53guy is going to be a P-3 puke soon....

How do you know if a pilot is a fighter pilot.... Give him a minute and he'll tell you...

You say that like it's a bad thing. Jack and I might take exception to that... 8)

Just remember two things.....first, "Jets are for kids"....second, "Fighter pilots make movies, bomber pilots make history."

There is NOTHING bad about Gold Wings.

They call each other "P-3 Pukes". It's a
term of affection. In fact some of my
very best friends are or were P-3 Pukes.
