I still think it's the Lady. She was very heavily molested sovenier hunters over the years, and I've seen at least one photo showing the forward fuselage completely ripped apart. By the time the Libyans hauled what was left out of the desert, she was a mangled mess.

This was never about trust, just an unanswered question that came from analyzing the photographic evidence. Thanks to Steve Nelson for the book link which provided the missing details. The only explanation for the differences is that someone literally drug the tail section from its crash orientation and aligned it with the fuselage. Unfortunately, it also shows how the fuselage aft of the cockpit was also horribly hacked.

IIRC, yes, it was in a post on Key, by 'Mark 12'. I'll drop him a note about this thread, ask him to swing by - no promises, of course. Again, IIRC, it's an interesting story, about how the shot came about.

"Next year?" We've been suffering through it for months already!

As for The Lady, since she's been thoroughly trashed and removed from the original crash site, I would like to see the remains returned to the States and incorporated into some sort of memorial, most likely at the NMUSAF. BTW, I stumbled on some pics online awhile back showing the current state of the actual crash site, and I was surprised how much is still there. The major airframe sections were recovered, but a fair amount of debris and misc. chunks of airplane are still in the desert.

I noticed on page 28 this quote "In the images from when the wreck was found around 1959, The rear section is a quite an angle - perhaps 60-70 degrees from the in-line position. When I saw the wreck in 1990 and 1991 the rear section was much more closely aligned.".....................

I guess the only silver lining is that I work at a TV station, and even though we get even more sick of watching the ads than the home viewer (since we monitor four stations at once and can't change the channel!) we make a huge pile of money during election years, because the advertisers pay premium rates for those ads, and buy up almost all the ad time!

Now, back to the Lady..a topic far less depressing than politics.
