I saw a B-17 go over. I thought it's probably T-Bird. Then it came back over, and I got out the binocs to be sure. Yup, T-Bird. Then another B-17 flew over. I knew who that was, but went ahead and took a look since I had the big eyes in my hand, and it sure was purdy to watch good old Raiders go rumbling past. I love it that spotting -- and hearing -- a B-17 flying isn't any particularly rare thing around here, but I don't reckon there are too many places in the world where you gotta double check to see WHICH B-17 it is. And then some days you get both of them! Life is sweet! 8)

(Must me Press Day at Ellington, getting ready for WOH. I'll be out of town, so who cares....... :P )

Yes, it was Media Day. In addition to the 2 B-17s, there was a Stearman, a PT-19, a couple of AT-6s, three or four Tora birds, the SB2C Helldiver, and the Doolittle Raiders B-25 flying. Also there but not flying was Galveston Gal.

Does something I was in close formation with (er, inside) count? We saw a gust front approaching while we were up this evening in the Cub.

O.k. it was not flying but, it was moving. Going down I-81 outside of Roanoke, VA was a helicopter on a flatbed truck. The vehicles occupied both lanes of the interstate and poking along. That was the report I got, I did not see it. Painted in desert tan. Best I can figure it was a Sea King. Anybody got more information.

The AVANTI has a very 'distinctive' sound doesn't it? sort of like an electric razor plugged into 220V

A yellow T-6 and an OH-6 in a sharp civilian paint scheme.

I seen the E.A.A. Ford Tri-motor from the outside on the tarmac and the inside at 1200 feet. Lovely plane , takes off in 800 feet according to the guy sitting across the aisle. They were in northern Indiana selling flights till wednesday at the Porter county airport. 70$ is a good deal and goes for a great cause. Don't forget to buy something from the E.A.A. trinket trailer. One more plane from the bucket list. So far B-17, B-24, B-29, now Ford Tri-motor.
