Some wonderful photos! What sorts of lenses, shutter speeds and apertures are you using all and all at an airshow? Does it run the gamut or are there some fairly typical setups? Do you usually just keep it in shutter priority for the flying shots?

Hi, I was using a Canon EOS 7D with a Canon EF-100-400 IS lens. The Legacy flight with the Fury was on Monday and with the Corsair on Thursday. I did not see the airshow every day so don't know if they flew every day.

Did take a photo of the Bob Hoover tribute as well.

And a great photo of the Aeroshells.

ANOTHER outstanding shot, thanks! Thanks for the info. on when you took your shots. It bears out what I said about having to be there on multiple and probably every day all week to make sure you see great warbird formations like this. You took these photos on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The great Legacy Flights and a lot of Naval warbirds were likely scheduled to fly on Wednesday, but weather made that day one of very limited flying. I won't plan on returning to Oshkosh unless I know I can attend just about every day (at least Monday through Friday).

Thanks again.

What great shots...looks like a wonderful time. It must make every other air show you go to make you say "ho hum"

That is the burden the Oshkosh faithful must bear...truly a jaded lot. :D

I hear you buddy. I am going to pre-medicate next year. Still can't believe I caught a cold for a few days out there.

Sorry to have missed you Chris for all of Osh. I thought for sure our paths would have crossed. I'm headed your way next weekend to pick up some more stuff at Elkhart.
The tribute to Bob Hoover with our F86 was Tuesday. The Legacy flight with the FJ-4, T2, A4 and F-18 was Thursday. The Legacy flight with the Corsair, T2, A4 and F-18 was Friday. The A4 did not fly until Thursday as it had a brake problem where Dan K caught my best side while working on it Tuesday morning. The wet runway kept the A4 on the ground Wednesday as we didn't want to take a chance with another brake issue and become a headline.
All in all a great Airventure.

Ok, so my self imposed exile only lasted a couple of days, but from now on I will only post photos, or links to photos. I'm not going to deal with any of the BS anymore.

After a total of 22 hours of flying in our 1949 Piper Clipper, my father and I successfully completed another adventure up to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for "Airventure". Airventure 2011, the 59th year of the convention, was the honorary place for celebrating major aviation milestones, events, innovations, aircraft and people. Themes such as the Centennial of Naval Aviation and Air Mail, Tribute to aviation legends Burt Rutan and Bob Hoover, 75th Anniversary of Lockheed 12s, Salute to Quicksilvers, Gathering of Zeniths, Electric Aircraft, Flying Cars and much more. All of these themes, all of the aircraft, and most importantly all of the people take one week out of the year and literally turn Oshkosh, Wisconsin into Heaven on Earth.

This marks my 5th year making the Airventure music videos, and each year it proves more and more difficult to try and out-do the last! Let me know what you think!

Slick, love the video as usual, they're all good, although I think the 2009 one is still my favorite-
