Man, that interior of the Wildcat hasn't changed since the first day I saw the inside back in 1978!
Thanks for posting Al!

Thanks to all for the superb photos. I have never been to this airshow though I've wanted to since I was a teen in about 1984 and saw a documentary on the airshow back then. But I have felt closer to it this year than ever thanks to the photos here and the reports daily on Warbird Radio.

It is nice to see the photo of the Bob Hoover tribute flight, as it was mentioned several times on Warbird Radio and the Mustang pilot was interviewed. Great stuff.

Al, well done, well done... Vlado will like your night shots. Is that Jim Cavanaugh driving his Mustang. I like the F-16 down with the helo on the recovery and FiFi on the roll, 3 generations and all in the same frame...

Trying to track down the award winners list.

All I know is Twilight Tear took Grand Champion WWII

*EDIT*

Okay, I must've heard wrong. Apparently there was no Grand Champion. Will be interesting to hear more. Hmmmmm......

I’m surprised! I would have thought she would have put her lawn chair, beer cooler, umbrella and tripod up on that old airplane’s wing.

After missing AirVenture the past ten years I finally made it back on 7/30/2011. I thought that it was also going to be a day of warbirds, but I was mistaken. I noticed from previous pictures in this post that many of the planes had already left by Saturday. The warbird show only put up about three P-51’s and three T-28’s.

I was glad to see the strong showing from the CAF. They did a marvelous job of bringing in warbirds to Oshkosh this year.

Here are some pictures I took and thought that I would share.

I could be mistaken but I am pretty darn sure I heard someone announce Grand Champion WWII goes to P-51D Twilight Tear...

It looks as though there was no post-WWII Grand Champion warbird this year, with Fagen's P-51 winning the WWII award.
