Any idea where the F-16 was from? A Madison jet with "WI" tailcodes?

Now on ASB someone says the FJ Fury ran off the same runway and is sitting next to the F-16!? What's going on up there?

The 16 is Alabama National Guard, pilot OK.

I can tell you via the source of a pair of eyeballs that the F-4 Fury did indeed run off the end of the runway and is parked fairly close to the F-16 in the grass now. No visible damage to the F-4.

A view from one of the live web cams at least shows the Fury sitting on its gear, and as stated, doesn't look to have any damage, but the view from the web cam isn't the greatest (I couldn't get a screen-capture, so I simply took a quick photo of the screen).

Wow, that's is an incredible series of shots of the F-16. I've worked on F-16s for 18 years in the DC ANG, and loaded many a bombs on Bama jets at the start of OIF. First thing I noticed was the instant the intake dug in was it sucked in a huge amount of dirt that FOD'd out the engine. And when the dirt cleared away from the cockpit, it looks like the pilot may have struck his head on the HUD. Glad he's okay.

I know an ex-F-16 Crew Chief and he said one time that brake failures in the pre-50 block F-16's weren't uncommon (he hadn't worked on any of the 50/60 block aircraft). Being a Block 30 aircraft, it's one of the earliest models of F-16C still in service.

More information and a very interesting point of view just after the plane came to rest (from F-16.net) -

is it just me or does the f16 seem to be making a little more that idle thrust?

It probably looks like that to you because you can actually see the exhaust because of all the crap its kicking out. The J-79 idles about 60 % power, you certainly don't want to walk behind it ! I can't believe he didn't go to idle cut off when he hit the grass. Maybe he didn't due to losing systems he thought he would need if he got it stopped.
