Well, that explains why the ad keeps referring to it as an airship...

it doesn't seem like too much if you really wanted a p-40. Hense, all the extra money for everything else!

It's been for sale for a while. No doubt he's had offers. Often people want way more money than for what it is they actually have. It would help if more people watched "American Pickers." Stuff rarely brings what we think it should. THe pickers often have to remind people that they are calling on them, standing on their property." IE, there aren't as many buyers out there as the seller thinks.

The parts that are usable in a flyer dont add up to 50 Gs.Remember this thing bounced off the ground rather hard.I have all the parts to make the bird fly again but they are not cheap. Come to think of it nothing is cheap anymore.

There is at least one more still in the swamps down here. I think it is a K.

I don't have a report for it. Not postive it's a K but someone on wreckchasers might have the report. I had always assumed it was another N model but I saw a recent reference to it as a K. An airboater offered to sell me the GPS coordinates for 25k. Needless to say I declined. I did find his description of it credible and had heard about it before so i do believe it is real. There is also a Corsair wing out there somewhere near Hastings iirc that had the fuselage unbolted from it and removed.

That sounds like a pretty dirty/underhanded thing to do. he must think it's worth that, just like you think your parts aren't cheap, maybe he thinks his coordinates aren't cheap, sure wouldn't ask any of your buddies to go around your back.

I'd say it's pretty dirty to charge taht much for a relic when it's rotting away without preservation.

The water in lakes and swamps down here has tanic acid in it which acts much like saltwater on aluminum. I imagine it
would look about like the one for sale on ebay now if it could be located and extracted. I remember him telling me he stood in the cockpit. This was about 2003.
