Silly question: Are there any Thunderbolts currently flying with the full original turbocharger setup in place and operational? Just curious.

Dean the curiously silly

I know Hun Hunter and Rod Lewis' Bolt have turbochargers.

I would think you'd be the last person someone in Wisconsin who owned a Jug would want to know they had one. You would be like company that never leaves.

Assam India 1944. Pop may have flown this one. 8) Would I love to put a copy of this on the show circuit, beat up as shown. OIl leaks, scratches, dents, oil stains, repairs. How cool would that be?

I would be most-interested in any details on a Wisconsin based P-47.

WIXer aircraft mech Paul posted about one a while back. You are probably right though that the P-47 in Wis could have only been parts used on Paul Allen's. And the P-47 with black checkerboard cowl is I believe owned by WESTEC.

Franklin's list is great, but I think the Palm Springs one has to be reclassified in the "hopefully someday" box.

I actually no longer have the original print for this next photo, but what the hey. The folks in the photo were identified on its reverse:

Left to right...

George Burrell - Pilot
Mike
Jerry Bell
Dolalian
Frank Shedorske

Also, typed on the reverse was the following:

L.P. Dalalian
Air Corps Inspector
U.S. Army.

This P-47C was sent to England and served with the 334th FS, 4th FG. It was lost on April 3rd, 1943 when the pilot, Maj. Oscar Coen, bailed out near Alconbury because of a fire.

Here's a couple of videos in case anyone wants to hear them also. The lighting is poor, but the sound is unmistakable! Both are from Thunder Over Michigan 2008.

Always up for a good P-47 thread. The Black & Whites pics are from my father in law's archives, he was a crew chief at Wright Field during WWII
