After much discussion, debate, and delay (not to mention a lot of Navy vs. Air Force bantering), Randy and I have decided to combine our half-finished, never-ending projects into a small, 4-page leaflet on Cavalier Mustangs that raced at Mojave.
Currently searching for a publisher...
Entitled, "The Brassfield Chronicle"?

Now that's pretty funny!
A couple years ago Hacker and I were looking over the 'matrix' he put together of all the various airframes that had been built by/used parts from/were serviced by/etc. Trans Florida and Cavalier....I can't remember right off hand but there were probably a dozen or more that over time had been involved in racing. And I think four or five that ended up at Mojave over the years.

I remember many years ago watching a preview on TV for a new show that was entailing disasters...
It showed a COLOR video of Mike Geren doing his straight away pass in front of the grand stands with flames pouring out the back of the Bearcat, then cut away to another featured video of somethin completely different.
I watched that darn show for weeks waiting to see the full video, which also seemed very odd that they'd show it that way.
My dad was there when that occured, and I know it wasn't a video most would ever wanna watch as to what the outcome was.
Dad took Kodak 110 pics of that incident, as it happened, and many shots of the race in general.
Truth be told, the next day, he even was able to go to the site, and scavenge parts from that airplane.
He told me stories that he rid of them fairly quickly, as he also believed that wierd things were happening with that pile of parts when he had them.
He swore by them stories.
But this thread made me think of those times.
I think I have an original entry list for that race also, that I acquired many years later from an old hobby shop that we used to frequent when I was a kid.
Oh well, for whatever thats worth.
