It said over on Airshow Buzz that during Chino - Dan Friedkin with a solo Sabre and Heritage Flight at Langley AFB the same weekend... And just curious - I'm familiar with the F-86 out at POF and that the Friedkin Family owns Ed Shipley's old Sabre. but does anyone know which 3rd Sabre their using ?

Having been there and involved with the Chino shows many years ago I'm sure Steve has many "Jobs" he is involved with now, as he was back then.
The Horseman Team is also a major responsibility to lead.
This is probably a red flag in any Human Factors scene to have so much work, responsibilities and things to supervise and then go lead 3 500+ mph jets in a low level acro routine.
Sometimes you have to pick priorities.

Yea, but he's Steve Hinton - he's Superman and can do anything when it comes to flying! :D

Steve must have so many offers and requests that part of his job must be to say no sometimes and to prioritize his time and focus.
He has been and is, the guy who most people would go to first if you had something rare and unusual to do the first flights on, such as Glacier Girl or the FW-190. I know there are only a couple of other pilots that I would consider up there.
I have wondered how he is able to transfer among so many different types, and not get confused. Having the experience in so many types must be a big asset, but might also at times be a distraction.
Although I have know Steve as long as I have been in warbirds, I haven't spent that much time talking to him. We aren't often in the same place. I have flown formation with Steve and been lucky enough to get a P-47 ride with him.I know he likes the F-86 a lot.
I did get to talk to him quite a bit about the transatlantic flight in the P-38.
I think part of his strenght must be that Steve still, after all these years, that he still loves the planes and is really interested in flying them and the day to day operation is not just a job.

I've spent many hours visiting his apt back in 79 and sitting in a hospital room several years later watching Steve recover from some nasty crashes.
I hope nobody has to go through that, even a Superman.
Point is that the decisions you make, even before you strap in, can be just as important as the "Flying" you do.
It's been a factor in funerals I've had to attend.

I know, I'm just kidding. :D No need to get so serious, I'm well aware of the consequences of poor pilot decisions. I too, have had to bury several pilot friends over the last couple of decades.

That's one quality that makes me admire Steve so much - he knows his limits and doesn't succumb to pressure from outside influences to please anyone else. Every decision he makes is with safety in mind. Unfortunately you can't say that about a lot of warbird pilots. :(

When's the Houston show? The Horsemen flying three F-86s? I may need to start some advance planning for a road trip!

They also own N860AG which I think is currently being worked on at Chino.
