Also if you go to a Home Depot or whichever, they can scan the color you want and mix it up for you in semi-gloss. In a perfect world they would all be inside, but once again I applaud your effort to get involved and help preserve her.

The only reference that should be used in an accurate repaint of the SEA camo is the diagram in the T.O. 1-1-4. Individual unit markings are applied over the basic scheme.

We repainted the F-4D located at the 147th FW at Ellington Field Houston. We did the basic camo with an industrial latex paint specified by the NMUSAF. We switched to regular aircraft paint for the aircraft markings as the latex and masks did not work. We used the peoper primer prior to using the final color coat. The primer and color was applied with an airless sprayer. Final results weren't bad but it has not held up well. We did this about 3 years ago. The picture was taken a few days after completion.

We also repainted the CF F-4D at the same time. We used standard aircraft type paint, with a normal spray gun. This was a scuff and paint process. This series of pictures shows all aspects of the SEA camo. The pictures were taken by various photographers at various venues, most were taken at either Houston or Thunder Over Michigan.

Had a very good dialog with the airport manager at KVTA...he is interested in moving forward as he and others really want to see this piece of history get a refresh.

He also had some good history on this bird...as well as some paint that is a few years old.

I took all the great steer from fellow WIX'ers and created a first draft phased project plan to mobilize, prepare, paint and finish the KVTA F-4 likely in the 4 tone camo finish...the grey would be easier but the camo will be a real standout...

Just had a thought, you might want to see if it's OK with the local enviro Orks to see if it's OK to give the thing a REALLY good wash job before painting it including probably TSP in pump up sprayers.

I did some reasurch on 63-638 F-4C at Newark Heath Airport Ohio. The last unit the aircraft served with is the 184 Tactical fighter wing at Fort Smith Arkansas.Arkansas National guard The white tail letter code should be FS.It went to AMARC in 1988 then to Newark AFB ohio.Any othe inquireies call 740-348-5232

I found on Wixpedia the squadrons that 64-0683 served in...I just don't know which one...

Is there a site somewhere that has this info? Now that it is in camo we want to get the squadron right...see below

On 1 July 1962, the 15th Tactical Fighter Wing was activated at MacDill AFB, Florida on 1 July 1962 and assigned to Ninth Air Force. Operational squadrons of the wing and squadron tail codes were:

45th Tactical Fighter Squadron (FC)
46th Tactical Fighter Squadron (FD)
47th Tactical Fighter Squadron (FE)
43d Tactical Fighter Squadron (FB)

I had a post that said it should be FS but I think this is post-Viet Nam ...

Sijans would be a great subject!!! Read his bio book several years ago 'Into the mouth of the tiger', he was one tough and dedicated individual and a very very brave man, doing his bird would be a great tribute.
