Bob Feller

WW2 vet Bob Feller has passed away at age 92. He served 4 years in the Pacific aboard the USS Alabama as a gun captain. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/sn ... 3147.story Oh yeah, did I mention that he was an outstanding pitcher in baseball also. One time I was standing in line for Mr Feller's autograph when I happened to look at the next person in line who was in his early 20's. Everyone else in line wanted to have Mr Feller sign baseball related items (baseballs, photos, baseball bats: etc) but this young man had a book opened to the page where there was a photo of Mr Feller serving aboard the Alabama. Obviously he wanted the WW2 era photo signed. I was struck by that.

Believe it or not, the Left Wing New York Times had a nice piece about his military service today.
