I meant NMNA in my previous post. I have been to your place and it is very cool. YOu guys have done a great job. I hope that Pensacola takes the one in Florida and places it indoors.

thanks! still, you wouldn't be wrong to say it needs to be moved indoors, and soon. it's already had one big rebuild and the corrosion is starting to show again.

Just checked the DVHAA website. It looks like the photo-op event tomorrow has been cancelled. :| I wasnt going to be able to make, but sad to see the send off cancelled.

I hate to see it go, I've only driven past the museum but I loved seeing the 262 in the building. It reminded me of a Corvette... er Mercedes in a show room. The plane looked to be very well cared for with the DVHAA.

yes, it was canceled, but i can tell you the museum will still be open that day, you can get just as close, and the jet is leaving monday.

I last saw the 262 at the 'Grove airshow in September 2001 where these were taken.

Arado is in storage at Pensacola-I believe it suffered some damage during transit IIRC

I used to visit it at Willow Grove, too. Huge thrill for me, no matter how many times I saw it.

I'm curious..why is th e262 going to P-cola? It looks like she's well cared for where she is, and the P-cola museum has lots of other aircraft on-site that need to come in out of the weather, as well as others in storage awaiting restoration. Even with the new building, they still won't have enough room to house all of them. I'm not complaining about the move, just wondering about the reasoning behind it. It seems like if the NMNA wanted to display a German WWII aircraft, the Arado (which I believe was from the Prinz Eugen) would be more appropriate for a Naval museum.

The ME-262 was on loan to the captain of Wilow Grove not to the DVHAA, so we did not have much to say about it's move to Pensacola. We are told that it will be the center piece of the new building at the Navy museum. It was dismantled by All Coast Aircraft Recovery on Monday and was loaded on Tuesday for the trip to Pensacola. It will be missed by our organization but we will be reopening with a new museum scheme. Inside will not include the F-84 which will remain outside. (side note) The Arado is being restored for display. The Wings of Freedom Museum will be staying at Willow Grove and is in the process of acquiring new and interesting displays.
