Sometimes it's awful easy to pine for the "good old days", but all I gotta do is remember when everyone smoked ..... everywhere! Ugh!! I almost desperately wished I had a mask and SCUBA tank sometimes, particularly on commercial airline flights with all the nervous nellies chain-puffin', and I WAS A SMOKER MYSELF back then too!! :Hangman: Cough, hack, wheeze, I'll never understand how non-smokers survived for so long (and it still feels like a freakin' miracle that I ever got off the d*mned things). As the old Virginia Slims TV commercial jingle used to go, "you've come a long way baby". Heh, indeed. :D

Back to the PB4Y, keep those pictures coming! We in LSFM Land particularly enjoy 'em!

That is amazing my friend!! One heck of a job!!!!

I had to chuckle at the ashtray. My father has a 'staged' photo for the press of three men working in the cockpit of his B-29. The caption says 'skilled dedicated men maintain these multimillion dollar aircraft 24 hrs a day'.., something like that.., anyway., they are all three pulling on the console of the pilot's display and what they are actually pulling out is the DARN ASHTRAY!!! it is hilarious! How many men does it take to clean out a B-29er's ashtray! :o

Thanks for the pics and these look to be total winners!!!

Thanks again!

I'm good with it, as long as you can explain to these guys why you don't have the Powerball numbers anymore.

VB/VPB-109 had a reunion and had a photo taken next to V514 in October 2003. It turned out to be my Dad's last reunion but he enjoyed it. I'm really happy the museum is restoring the aircraft.

those most recent pictures are great. It gives me a much better idea of how those turrets worked. They look like they were very effective defensive weapons.

Thanks for posting.

If I had gotten that kind of tour in the Navy or someone told me I could have I might have stayed in! That would be pretty sweet. I can see it now. I worked on PB4Y-2, A-4s, F-14, A-6s, F6F, SB2C... Oh but to dream for 1 sec.

Looking good! Great to see the old girl with teeth again!

One question though..did the upper turrets sit that high originally? They look like they're sticking up awfully far.

Beautiful job being done there.

I was also happy to see how far YAM's forward and aft turrets are coming for thier Privateer at this years TOM. It'll be great to see them installed someday.
