Ouch. Thanks. If anybody cares to talk about the crew that was lost, perhaps it would be nice to bring them back to the front once again.......?

I knew Chris & Collin, they were volunteers at TFC. Never should have been invited along on a check ride...

...And in that there are some hot-button topics, which are easy to press unintentionally. Don't get offended, or take it personally, though.

Plenty of other things to play with, and it all works better if we respect each other's no-doubt very-manly-feelings. ;)

Welcome to the forum, and I look forward to having another contributor here!

The two Englishmen were very good friends of mine and were moving to the US as business partners.Colin had two young children at the time where Chris was quite young and no children. All our hearts were broken that day. There is a nice memorial bench to Colin and Chris at Duxford.I would love to see a picture of it.Can anyone help with that? Thanks,Tom.So very sad.

Here is a youtube video interview of the two surviving crews from the Marauders that made the torpedo attack at Midway. One of them is the man that flew down the flight deck of the Akagi after dropping his torpedo.

great vid. interesting how politics played into things even then. the air force really tried to disavow the marauder.

You can blame Harry Truman for that. He never forgot how Glenn L Martin did an endrun around the Truman Committee which was trying to stop production of the B-26 due to its high loss rate. As it turned out, it wasn't the fault of the airplane so much as it was poor training and maintenance practices. Martin got Jimmy Doolittle to declare that there was nothing wrong with the Marauder, and Doolittle did some very public flying on single engine that proved it. Truman nursed that grudge until he became President, and then he did something about it.

Would be nice to see Kermit's B-26 painted in the Midway / Akagi Marauder scheme.
