That's real nice!
I was just told about this thread and have read the whole thing. I will tell everyone that has been commenting, that the B-29 is ready to fly. It will fly, when the FAA gives there blessing and finally agrees with us on what a minimum crew is, and they will. No one is more sure of what this airplane will do than I am. I have complete confidence in what we have done and how it will perform. The FAA has issues only because they don't deal with these airplanes very much. I am the first one to say I have been very frustrated by all this but oh well?? HQ decided to put the press releases out and I cautioned them against it but they did it anyway. They have the last say as far as that goes?? If we weren't in Midland that may play out different. Whether we fly with media or not. We will fly with purpose and poise! It will be spectacular!!

I can't wait to see her fly again!! Last time I did was back in the 80's at Ellington in Houston. I also, can not wait for her to come up here to DFW! We have so many resources up here. We have the VFM's B-17 at Meachem, Ole 927 (CAF bird) at Addison along with the Cavanaugh Flight museum aircraft and crews, the DFW wing of the CAF at Lancaster.

Just curious as to where they will keep her??... I heard Ole 927 barely clears the taxi way from the CFM hangers to the runway.....

Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention the Cold War museum guys and their russian aircraft at Lancaster....oh..and Lockheed Martin, Vought, Bell.....this is the ideal place to base her..... :)

There are many of us who can't wait to see her fly again! We are getting close and she wants to fly, when the engines have been run at power it is a beautiful sound and feeling :D

The CAF B-24 Ol' 927 and "FIFI" will be based at the old collins hangars by the fuel farm. We are currently working with Cavanaugh to determine the best way to move visitors between the hangars.

I am looking forward to the day that I watch Dave post here that he has returned from the test flight and is sipping his scotch to success; it will happen and there will be a heck of a party when it does! :drinkers:

In the meantime please continue the positive thoughts for "FIFI" and the CAF

Chris

Dave,

We all have no doubt it shall be spectacular and trust me.., we ALL appreciate everything that has been done and will be done beyond care with FIFI.

Who ever released the PRESS RELEASE SHOULD BE STRUNG UP :Hangman: .., and the YAWN was the multiple times it was posted that she was going to fly today.., no tomorrow.., wait.., "we need more certificates.., wait.., we have to apply the NO SMOKING sign.., wait.., who is going to crew her.., wait.., did we notify the FAA?.., did someone bring a camera?.., ok CRAP.., FAA?.., who are they again? What is their number? Should we call them firstly or should we hit the world with a press release?.., anyone?.. Bueller? Bueller? OK.., go with the press release, we shall deal with all the formalities in the interim.., " OOPS

In a seriousness i can not imagine the amount of sweat blood and tears and fears that you all have put into during her redo. We are just all getting sore but(t)s sitting on the edge of our seats or sore feet standing at the end of the runway in Midland waiting to hear and see that BEAUTY roar into the skies again!!!

QUIT TEASING US!!!!!!!!

Firstly ,I raise a glass to each and everyone of you that has turned awrench on the old girl to get her to where she is at today! I have followed the main thread that Gary started including the new ones and to say it has been a massive undertaking is an understatement. I put it on par or even bigger than the UK efforts to get the Vulcan flying!

I do agree somewhat with the yawn statement that the pr and postings have bee na bit of a disappointent as I imagine the disappoint ment is uqually shared by those on the ground wanting to see her fly after their hard work.Let's just hope the FAA gets everything sorted out and the crew get's "the call" really soon and this simply awe inspiring machine can get back where she belongs.. IN THE AIR once more!!
:drinkers: Cheers from Canada lads!
