I had started a thread a while back on a Corsair in a barn. I had been searching around SW Missouri for years looking for the bird in the barn. As it turned out, it was true, except for the fact that there were two of them!!! It seems that the roumors spread like wildfire after the fact, and they are long gone....Two people here on the WIX site have reassured me that my search was over..The first was a person who's father had a dealing with recovering the bent wing birds, and the second, was the person that sold them! So yes , Eugene, there is still hope in chasing the rainbow! In researching the Lockheed Harpoon, I have found that there were quite an impressive number of them that were assigned a civil registration number, only to be de-registered within five to ten years..none of these ever saw tanker duty...where did they go?? To the dark side of the moon? Oh, speaking of the moon, you guys gotta get over the B-32 thing like I finally did...I got some inside info that some hippies scrapped her out for some good stuff long ago.

My point exactly. If it was a '32 (Deuce) instead of a '30/31 Model A, you could add a "2" in front of that $4k.

Well we got wind of a biplane in a barn so we checked it out and when we opened the door and seen that it was "ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE" we closed the door and kept going!

Speaking of Corsairs, wasn't there a farmer who knew of a Corsair that crashed into a lake on his property, but hasn't recovered it yet, knowing the Navy would probably take it away? Maybe I've got my stories mixed up, but I think something like that was discussed here on WIX.

That kind of thing should be recovered and restored in secrecy... Kinda like putting planes on the moon. Top secret.

Jacks barn find was true, as i am the owner of his NA-64 3383. Jacks farm was a site to see. I did see the P-400, a PT-19, 2 Allison 1710's, what appeared to be 2 Curtiss V-1570 V-12's which were used in the early P-6 Hawk, 6 Ranger engines, stacks of propellers, Wheels and tires all the way from P-51 to B-25. There were a couple of old semi trailers out side behind the hanger with a couple of huge pad locks on them, I had a neighbor and a close friend of Jacks that was there that day confirm that there was indeed parts to a P-6 in the trailers. Once I recovered the Yale out of there I went back to go through the rest of the stuff but it was all sold off.

Here are the coordinates to Jacks back farm: 42.328066,-84.395157 : if you zoom in you can see the two trailers, two barns and the Yale in the left corner near the woods.
Here are the coordinates to Jacks main farm: 42.326636,-84.387296 : You can see the two barns and one hanger. The hanger had the P-400 and PT-19

By the way the pics of the PT-19s were taken on the south side of Berlin, NY, along with a Faichild 24, Piper J-5 and an Aeronca 11AC. There was a Stearman outside when I was there in '76.

there was a corsair wreck up in new york a while back. Most of the plane was still there due to the woods and no way to get vehicles up there. It was picked at for years until one day a guy got wind of it and went up there and took everything, including the engine AND .50 cals. It was an f4u-4. I bought bits and pieces of it at the time from another source, but the other guy was a jerk and wouldnt give me any details nor a list of parts for sale. Even though he was a military army and navy store owner.
