I notice the prop on #2 no longer has cuffs on the blades. Are they not necessary with the new engines?

I've heard the cuffs mentioned, but cannot recall an explanation of their purpose......

Thanks John for your answer to that question. We believe we will operate the coolest running engines a B-29 has ever had.
We also believe we will operate a B-29 with climb performance that has never been witnessed. That's all I'm going to say for now.

Dave,

How many total pilots (will be) current to fly FIFI when she resumes her normal schedule? Another way to ask this is - how many pilots do you want to have on your roster to uphold her schedule?

Ken

We should see the same mph since we will be using the same torque/Hp. We should see a decrease in fuel burn because these engines will be using lower RPM/manifold pressure to achieve the same result. We'll find out during our test flight phase.

I am sorry to tell you all this but I have been asked by my Squadron Staff to go into "Skunk Works" mode!! The B-29 will be flying soon but details on our efforts leading up to that day, will be very limited to those on a need to know basis.
Thanks for watching and continue to be mindful of the cause;

Skunkworks? Well that stinks! :D Okay, I'm just kidding. Could not resist the pun. Looking forward to the day.

Yes we understand, the MAIN thing is that she flys [and flys safe] i will be HAPPY to see her when you all say it's ok. Keep up the good work, and thanks again for all your fine updates here on WIX.

Here's a few pics of some recent stuff we are doing.

Here is the exhaust installed! We decided to put it on first this time, before we installed the mount ring. It was alot easier!!

Then the mount ring gets installed. Mark uses the lift to put it in place.

I've got Duane here working on closing up the cowling panels on #1 engine.

This is Shad working on putting the rest of the sparkplugs in.

This is Sam assisting with the sparkplugs.
