Used to be a flying museum, in recent years it has become static. If I remember correctly it was too costly to insure the collection as flyers.

They used to be almost all flyers, but insurance stopped that. The Tri-motor is flying again there atleast. Still a very impressive Collection.

P.S. Good save on the V-1. Good save even if it was a JB-2...

P.P.S. I'm thinking now of building a carbon fiber composite flying replica for JDK to display at airshows. Since he isn't a pilot I guess I'll have to radio control it. That would save some money by not having to hook up a control stick inside the aircraft. Now I just need to learn how to fly radio control planes and I can put my plans into motion!

We're right in the middle of 'open cockpit' weekends (Sat-Sun 9-5), too. This month it's the FM-2 Wildcat, F6F-5 Hellcat, and FG-1D Corsair. In March we'll have the B-25J Mitchell, P-47D Thunderbolt, and P-39Q Airacobra open. C'mon out if you're in the area.

The New England Air Museum has a restored JB-2 Loon but it actually was one built up to a Loon from V-1 German Parts. The centersection had German markings underneath and different screw sizes than the Republic Loons did. It was decided that most of the parts were Republic so it was restored as a Loon. i was in favor of using the ID of the centersection and restoring it as a composite V-1, since there were original German parts and a V-1 is a much better draw for the public than a JB-2 Loon.
