Ok, just an observation here:

I see the UB flanker got the singel nose wheel going.
Any plans to modify it with twin wheels, like the Su-27SM's/MKI's etc etc..?

This would appear to be an safty issue.
But then again these two UB Flankers wont take the same beating as an operative Airforce Flanker, so my question is perhaps self explainable.. :?:

It could be argued that being a fairly modern, twin-engine turbine-powered aircraft with multiple, redundant systems, a Su-27 might have intrinsically "safer" operating characteristics than, say, a single-engine recip fighter from WWII. And we certainly insure those, right? :wink:

There are no plans to modifiy the nose gear. We don't see any need for that, since there's no record of it being a problem. And like you said, the airplanes are going to operated in quite a bit different environment over here. Not only that, but they'll no doubt be "babied" by any future owners -- wouldn't you? :wink:

Anyone have an update on the 2 Flankers. Rumor is that they have both sold and at least one will be grounded and not fly.

Anyone with details?

Everything in good time. The more prodding people do, the less some people feel like sharing. Not saying anybody's guilty of this yet, but a lot of misinformation gets spread by speculation and overly-wishful thinking. That's exactly what happened in May 2009 when these airplanes appeared on the scene, and we had to spend a lot of time squashing false rumors. Not gonna do it again. When and if something happens that you should know about, it will be announced here -- I promise. Not trying to be difficult -- just trying to keep my sanity and my email inbox from overflowing with spurious inquiries...
