I wondered if anyone knows how to get in touch with Matt and if the airplane could be had. I would like to look into obtaining and finishing this airplane. Gary had a clipped wing Cub that I would love to find. It was the hanger hack in Memphis years ago and he could fly the heck out of it. I need to dig out my old photos and find out where it is now.

Steve,

I sent you a PM just now.

As to the clipped-wing Cub, one of the Memphis folks told me in passing last Saturday that it "wasn't around anymore". I don't know if that just meant it wasn't at Dewitt Spain or something else.

I am looking for contact information for Scott, who wrote this post or Ralph Moore. I am starting on a Shoestring from Landis's plans and am curious about the issues he found.

my email address is philn at toosan.com

Thanks for any help I can get!

Phil

Hello people!

After lurking here for a while I have just joined up and can now post. It is nice to see new Shoestrings being still built! Gary is doing a fantastic job on his. Now I see others are building too!

I built and fly the only Shoestring in Canada. Seeing Gary's pics certainly takes me back a few years indeed. Unfortunately I took only a few pics of mine over the years, as progress was kind of like watching a clock move. I was building for 13 years before the first flight, and it still is not done yet!

Before I first flew mine in '93, I visited Ralph Moore in Florida to see another Shoestring and discuss tips for first flight. I also phoned Ray Cote a few times back then too. I subsequently visited Mr Cote at his home when he had "Alley Cat" and picked his brain for a few hrs regarding his 'String and "improvements" to make.

If one is working from only Landis Ketner's drawings (Condor Aero) there are a couple of areas of concern (that both Ralph Moore and I experienced on our first flight) that should be addressed before first flight.

I have sent a couple of pics of my machine that were taken back in '96 to Gary to post for me.

Keep up the GREAT WORK Gentlemen!

Scott
