Greetings Ever-body
Today, I was motoring down Alabama Highway 165 minding my own business, when low and behold

I passed an old friend sitting next to the road behind a chain link fence

. Naturally, the car left claw marks on the pavement and all four brake rotors were engaged as I slid off the road into the gravel parkin lot like Steve McQueen

. I whipped the SUV hard to the left and pulled down the driveay of a bodyshop. I didn't pay any attention to the name of the place, but I know zackly where it is.
There before me was vintage UH-1D, looking a little worn, missing the main rotor and blades, bent left skid, and faded OD paint, toop seats and seat belts, but the Gas Turbine still under the doghouse.
I asked the dude where in the hell they managed to get the Huey, and he said they got it from the Georgia Air Natinal Guard (GANG) My left eyebrow rose as sharple and quickly as Mr. Spocks. "Oh really" I said to him.
They were going to restore it for the Infantry Museum (which has two that were restored by the Army Aviation Heritage folks, and the museum has 3 other airframes in storage). The dude I was talking to said that he had the rotor assembly at his house, and was going to repaint it, and they were going to take the aircraft into the bodyshop and do some body work and paint the bird. I asked if they had the logbook and maintenance manuals for her, as they should use the manuals to seperate the boom from the cabin - he didn't know about the manuals....

Oh sheitie I thought to myself. I suggested organizations they could probably get copies, but I believe I heard and F-4 fly over right about then. Well, since she is so close, I'll try and keep an eyeball out on her, and possibly lend a hand on her as well. We will see. Over all, the skin looked good and tanned, all the glass was still in her, and she was missing only two instruments and a clock.
