Hello John-Curtiss -- Birgitta appreciates the kind words. She very much enjoyed her time spent in the Paul compound! She does not care much about the airplanes at Reno, but very much enjoys interesting people. Your pit overflowed with interesting people. I think you'll enjoy her pictures too.

You are surrounded by engine, fuel and electricals -- if things go South the cockpit can fill with smoke and/or fumes very quickly. You have a very short time to get organized and on the ground safely -- it's much easier if you can at least breathe...

Pretty sure there is a rule in the Unlimited class that mandates oxygen for the reasons Neal gave.

Ah, for crop-dusting... I see... very clever... For eliminating the elusive and difficult-to-spot Minnesotan Boll Weevil, no doubt. How resourceful!

OK, I get it now. The closest thing I've come to that is shovelling 5 gal of ice into the rad intake of the Spitfire before start on a very hot day.
