Wings Over Houston 1985. Some of you may recognize a Spitfire near the end of the pix. WOH 1988 comes later today or tomorrow. These were scanned from photos and not slides so the quality depends a lot on the original processing.

Thanks for the pics Bill.

I have never seen the gray Val before, Tora bird is that?

And...does anyone know the fella in the Wildcat? Is it Jack Gaulding?

I have worked on 4 of those in the pics, and I do like the Non PC version of the Yellow Rose nose art.

Great pics Bill, thanks for posting them. It's also my favorite Yellow Rose era...very sad to count the number of planes in your series of photos that are no longer around.

That 1985 show was a booger. It was held in August, and the heat was terrible. The fire department ended up poining the water cannons up and shooting the water into the air and letting the spectators walk thru this to cool them down a bit. There were a lot of wet T shirts out there for a while.

Wow! What memories those photos bring. The P-39 in her Russian marking. It was a fun paint scheme, and a great conversation piece on airshow ramps.

What happened to the B-25 "Big Ol' Brew"? That's one that I lost track of.

That looks like Joe Coleman flying the A-20. I was lucky enough to get a ride in her at the San Marcos show in '83 (I think it was). We made a straffing run on Lefty's wing.

The UC-78 sure looked pretty! I spent some time rubbing those nacelles to give them that shine. That's Ray Harper in the left seat, and you can't see me in the right seat, but I'm there. Keeping Ray in line was my main evening occupation.

That's Willie Bob waving from the light green Kate, and Dave Hatten in the medium green Kate 310 (though you can't see the tail number).

The Gray Val belonged to, and was being flown by, Tom Kelly. I was helping him do some work on it, doing some fiberglass work on and painting the wheel pants, that's why they were missing. As I recall, he bought the Val from Rick Sharpe, and then sold it to Charlie Angel. It perished in the Conroe hangar fire.

Thanks for the memories!
