Need some help here. My wife's uncle jumped the night of "D" Day into the little town of Sainte-Mere-Eglise (go watch The Longest Day if this does not ring a bell) at the ripe old age of 19. It has only been in the past few years that he has been able to talk about it. Saw him yesterday and he is willing to be taped while he is interviewed. I need someone that knows what they are doing and can do a good job and that is just not me. He lives up in Sonora. Anybody know of someone that can do this?

I know a lot of his stories but he told me a new one yesterday. Apparently he was directed to stand guard in a barber shop. When he entered the building he saw another guy coming at him so he fired his Garand ( yes he jumped with a Garand and not a carbine) six or eight times at the guy …………………… it was a mirror.

Buy the way I took him into my basement and handed him one of my Garands. He really looked fondly at it. Only said two things. "It never let me down" and "I didn't realize how heavy it is!"

Might check with the local PBS Station or Collage that might have something in place already. If you feel up to doing an interview yourself, there is a Library of Congress project to record Vets experiences at the link below. They tell how to do it and give tips and outlines for questions and such

You could always cntact Zachary with EAA's Timeless Voices. They do a great job and may have someone out there who could do the interview.

I'd like to but I'm not sure I can. My dad says school is more important and I have to slow down on the interviews
