F-86H 53-1528 at Lunken Airport-Photos

Wed Aug 05, 2009 11:00 am

I've been meaning to post this for a long time (I took these back in April  ) but here we go. I have to credit Lunken's Airport Director, who was kind enough to drive me out to the aircraft and allow me to photograph it :D

I didn't think aluminum was that weak :?

Obviously this aircraft has seen much better days, but I'm still holding out some hope that I can see her brought back to her birthplace here in Columbus to commemerate her and all the other aircraft that were built here.

Looks a bit rough, but definitely worthy of restoration. Anyone have access to the service records for this Sabre?

Thanks for the pics!

Oddly enough, I requested and got the IARC from the Air Force Historical Research Agency, but it's in PDF form so I don't know how to post it. Additionally, it's encoded as they always are, so I only have the vaguest idea what it says...

PS-you going to be at the Columbus Nationals? I'll be there :D
