It's interesting that chopping the tails was done frequently in southern Germany, whereas in Denmark, Finland and Northern Germany, you were more likely to find aircraft with just their props removed to prevent them from being flown. I hadn't really clued into that until just now... I wonder if that came down to how the disarmament instructions were interpreted?

i have a ju-88 radio direction control box from a mistel configuration, but i lost the detail of it's provinence.

Can you imagine being a G.I. at the end of the War and walking into a hangar and seeing what was in pictures 26 and 27? That must've been like something out of a Buck Rogers movie to them.

Indeed a great batch of photos, thanks for sharing. I had seen a few of them before, but they are a great "snapshot" of the leftovers of the Reich. Wreckage everywhere, planes of all shapes and sizes, got to have been somewhat awe inspiring. I used to work with a fellow who was with the 8th AF over Europe, he swore that German Jets were just a propaganda myth since he hadn't seen any!!!
