Goose Bay Aircraft

Sat Jul 18, 2009 8:33 pm

Couple other Goose Bay aircraft. The Vulcan is in front of the terminal, a gift following an accident when the aircraft was deemed BER.
The other is a Fairey Gannet that had had an engine failure on the way to England, and turned back to Goose. As the local said, there was money problems and the plane has been in a hangar ever since. She is still there now.

Is that the former Wally Fisk Gannet?

Yep. It was fun to watch while it was at the old Polar Aviation Museum.

The vulcan looks like it is still in pretty good condition considering.. Looks like the rudders buckling the vertical tail panel though with the wind?

We came SOOOOO close to buying that Gannet when I was in Washington. We ended up with dang near everything else Wally had at the time. Good thing we didn't because it's ended up not being in as good a shape as it was supposed to be in. Last time I was through Goose, I was told the plane was impounded now due to non payment for storage. Its been there a while!
