Good luck Gary, hopefully this will work out with 2 birds in one piece.

I responded by asking them what I need to do to "make things right" here. I've spoken with them multiple times on the phone, and so far, they've been friendly enough to deal with, although it is frustrating to have to deal with the bureaucracy. I should know more later this week, but right now, it is just too early to tell if I'm going to be able to undo this whole mess that I've gotten the airplanes into. :?

Gary, the continually frustrated.

I've never had to talk with anyone from the NMUSAF but I've been in contact with the Navy several times and they've been polite and helpful on the few projects I've inquired about. I'm in the process of talking with them about 3 potential projects at the moment.

Gary,

So they just blew off the documentation that you sent them from Camp Bullis? Would it help to have someone from the TAM call them too or would that just muddy the waters?

Jeez, this can't be happening...

Yup and nope.

The Camp Bullis documentation doesn't count, as it was supposedly an "Unauthorized document signed by an unauthorized individual." Sort of their catch-all. However, I reckon I can see their point. I mean, if you gave my truck to Jack Cook, on a title that I'd never seen, then I suppose I'd have a similar statement to say (albeit with much more profanity).

The difference here is that if I gave my truck to you, and then you gave it to Jack Cook, then I wouldn't think I would have any say in what you do with it. Right? I hope some of what I'm saying makes sense to someone other than me.

I think right now, adding more folks into the equation will be like adding fuel to the fire. I will definitely get more folks involved if and when it comes to that point. I just thought I'd keep y'all posted with what I can, in order to help keep the anxiety levels down.

Gary

Kind of.

Your basic point has been to holster the pitchforks, Frankenstein's monster may be nice. And upsetting him could very well bring about a bad reaction that, as things now stand, could be avoided. But you will let us know when, or even if, we need to light the bonfire under our local congress critters (my local rep would be of no help, and could actually hurt the effort, considering who she is).

Been watching to many classic horror movies lately

Jack, you commented on the colorful-ness of the header I used a month or two back, which was "Helldiver Falling Apart?!" (I think). Wellsir, I begin to think it inspired you. Good show old chap, you really gotter going good. Sure as heck got my attention anyway....

'Course, with such a topic as this, any header is sorta dropping a cigar ash on 16 lbs of black powder.

Just got off the phone with one of my "helpers" at the NMUSAF. This situation has been transferred to the Department of.....heck....I can't freakin' remember now. Anyway, it's in the hands of some other department that determines whether or not they will cut the airplanes up or not. He said that he "hopes they won't decide to cut them up, but it is entirely up to them as to what the demise of the aircraft will be." He said his department is supposed to have a meeting with this other department in a day or two, so maybe I'll know more then.

Gary the impatient.
