Oooohh..purty!

I only got to see the Blues flying Scooters a couple of times. Personally, I liked them better than the Hornets.

I saw it this weekend during the BBQ/Lobsterfest on Sat night at the Air Show.
It looked Great.
Talked to my friend Maj who is restoring an TA-4 out west and supplied a few bits for her. Sounded like a couple of the guys really worked hard to get this done.

There was another A-4 being restored, and painted in Blue Angels markings, at the Ontario, OR airport a couple of years ago.

Was it ever finished? Do you guys know?

Loved the BA's with A-4's.., of course I remember the Thunderbirds with Phantoms as well.., back in the early 70's.., OLD MAN.., at least in this group!
At that time both the BA's and the T-birds flew the same aircraft! Garsh they were loud.. and with all that smoke coming out of the end it was easy to spot em.., unlike the F-16's where they can sneak up on you!

First time I saw the Blues was at Quonset and they were flying the Skyhawks!

T-38's and A-4's for me, kind of like remembering the F-104's and F-106's, not to mention seeing the C-1 Taxiing with the wings up.

Is there a significance to selecting this A-4 as a BA #6 bird? Or is it just that the museum thinks a BA scheme is recognizable or popular?

IMHO I wished they would have restored it to it's 'as arrived' appearence of the Agressor scheme, in the markings of Lt "LUNG" Aquilino. I have pics of it from either the '93 or '97 show on display, I'll have to try and find them. Did the A-4E serve in Vietnam? If so painting it up as a bird from this time would be a great way to honor those who flew them 40 years ago. (Maybe in the markings of a unit based at OQU??)

I love the scooter but I guess another Blue's bird just doesn't do it for me.

AMEN to that! The A-4 just seemed quicker, purty-er, much sleeker, and just cooler all-round. The Bug just lacks the elegance of... well, a lot of other planes.

I mean, really... could you imagine Van Halen doing a video starring the Bug? No way!!

Sure wish I was old enough to have experienced seeing both teams flying F-4s. Yikes!

Somewhere I have some footage on DVD of the Blues flying Bearcats in Jax in 1948 or so, amongst other things. I once tried to see if the squadron was interested in a copy of it but nobody would ever get back with me. Oh well.

Looks like they also have an A4M so you can have the best of both worlds.
