Just throwing out some ideas here, but would contacting the appropriate elected officials be of any help? Another idea would be to possibly get the press putting heat on the NMUSAF for destroying what it's supposed to be preserving!

They sure do look hypocritical even to the untrained public eye, ordering the destruction of two aircraft that they "own" (and have been neglecting) that someone else is trying to take care of and not even asking for any money from the NMUSAF.

You know when I was in the Air Force and was issued a piece of government property and didn't take care of it and it was damaged, stolen, or neglected I would be brought up on charges, fined and probably demoted if not discharged.

Now they just order the destruction of the evidence.

I think that even as frustrating as it is, I just gotta give the lady a chance to try to help me work this out, like she said she would. I don't know that I should poke a stick at the hornet's nest just yet. However, if things do get confirmed by her that the airplanes will get cut up, then I reckon we'll have time to contact whoever we can to make this wrong a right.

This is tough to deal with right now, as I'm not a very patient person sometimes (news flash, huh?), and this isn't easy to remain calm.

Sounds like a good plan Gary, give them a chance but if it doesn't work out, go to plan B.

We're pulling for you and the planes.

I am not sure just HOW the NMUSAF reacts to what kind of pressure. Getting the media involved may or may not help. Perhaps Vet or Squadron associations might have more connections and "pull". Political pressure might work better...but then again.....anyone have a Congressman's ear?

I'm just full of.......ideas (yeah that's it).

The Vietnam River Rats Pilots Association might be interested to know that one of thier old steeds is about to be beercanized by the NMUSAF. Speaking of veterans groups.

If the situation necessitates involving other groups.

Gary, WHen you get the facts on this, I'd send it to Dateline NBC. Maybe that will create "change" at the NMUSAF

Nothing has really changed, where jets are involved, they've just become more aggressive, vindictive, heavy handed ? Ah, you guys just pick the adjective that fits for you ! :x

All this talk of cutting up airplanes ending with "-105" is bringing back bad memories...

Anybody at the NMUSAF named Diefenbaker?

This takes me by surprise as well. Rather than taking the ever so positive Jack route, I want to see what is really going on here. I don't mean that toward Gary or the other group at all, just as to what the NMUSAF is really planning on doing, not just what some would love to have others think. I'm with Gary let's see what they come back with.

I'd just like to throw this out there.

Hypothetically speaking, let's say someone at the NMUSAF (not Chris) reads this.

Again hypothetically, let's say that said reader skims rather than reads, realizes Gary's posted in here, DOESN'T read clearly what Gary wrote, and leaves with the impression that Gary's badmouthing the NMUSAF, which he hasn't.

Hypothetically, we could unintentionally cut the legs right out from under him.

I really think we all oughtta zip it up and see how this resolves before there's any more speculation in here. Gary's worked his face off and gave us a fantastically detailed thread related to 927, and I think the least we can do is not to hypothetically sabotage him.

Besides...that's also what he asked us to do. I think he deserves that respect from us.

*edited to add* Chris, I know you and Jack have had your differences, but respectfully, you could have made the same post without the extraneous statement there. Honestly, it could really create exactly the kind of atmosphere I think you wanted to avoid.
