This NELL was the most damaged to survive.

Maybe it's just me but those photos conjure up images of medieval archers bringing the thing down.....maybe even something "Pythonesque" about it.

Be wary of "blanket" statements/
Japanese history instructor, Saburo Ienaga wrote "The Pacific War" and did not start with Pearl Harbor... and the release of the book went thru the Japanese courts and then into the Japanese schools.

Good book review David. I find it interesting the Japanese are so quick to condemn the US for bombing their
cities(conventional and atomic), but it was they who, beginning with this mission your photos document,
were first in the practice of bombing civilian cities...prior to any other power in the region.
Ironic, huh?
