This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I'm guessing it's a Grumman Tracker of some variant.. Fuselage is too short for a Caribou and the tail area doesn't favor a CL-215. However the floats look Albatros..

Please do. I'm always interested in "goodies."

Tracker was the first thing to hit my mind when I saw the photo that Silverplate posted. Gary seemed sure about the Caribou ID so I didn't throw out the Tracker idea.
If you go on Microsearch Live Search Maps, where Silverplate's photo came from, and look next to the trailer at the bottom of the photo in his post, there are two objects that look an awfully lot like Tracker nacelles.
The objects in the woods that Gary1954 talked about appear to be wings.

I have contacted my G/F's Bro in Law, and as an F-16 Electrician, he seems to be uninterested in this little quest. My G/F's Sister (bless her), though she has no interest in aviation, as she just obtained her Masters in Literature, told me that she would drive to the location, take pictures and ask questions for me. So, maybe by the end of the day (fingers crossed) we will have some answers.

I'd see if I could help out but my schedule's pretty full right now. Maybe in a few weeks or so I could get to it.

That's definitely not a Bou laying there...but did no one else notice the Huey that's sitting there too?

Mention of the Huey has finally made me realise which location we are talking about. Referring to my "USA Military Out of Service 2008", it is a spare parts business at 12240 Hwy 181. The two aircraft are:
59-1609 Bell UH-1A cabin
MM136735 41-56 Grumman S2F fuselage, on side
Both have been there since at least March 1987. The S2 is ex Italian Navy.

Andy Marden

Mmmm...yes...devious of us to deliver the obtuse clue, Grumman Tracker. Probably would've returned
squat if you'd have googled it in...
The correct ID gives me hope, at least some of my memory from 20 years ago remains intact.
