Time to do away with the TSA.

Who will protect us from the evildoers if we get rid of TSA? Personally I think Homeland Security and TSA can take a flying leap off a rolling donut but then again I don't panic at the signt of a low flying 747 either.

Now you're talking, and practically speaking it should be somewhat doable. They are a relatively new organization, and supposing there is enough outrage we can sure shake them up if we take the "don't tread on me" stance w/ the rattlesnake. Senate funds them, and if you shake up the senators enough they could threaten the entire TSA program.

There's a lot of NY widows that do panic at the sight of a low flying 747 ...

I understand B.O.'s award winning administration has a plan in mind to make it up to NYC- Next week, the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels will be giving a FREE low level flight demonstration over the city to "apologize" for the mistake earlier this week... They want it to be a surprise, and will be opening with a low pass down Wall Street, culminating with a rarely approved "Sonic Boom" to wake them up around 10 am... They figure everyone will want to watch from their windows. They will then proceed to a combined series of aerobatics above the city- a never before attempted cooperation between the two demonstration teams.

Well in that case we should cancel all airshows in New York and everywhere else because we wouldn't want anyone to get scared. After all any low flying plane could have some crazy man at the controls looking for a place to splatter himself. This 747 thing has been a real eye opener.

Maybe that's what needs to be done, along with a bit of sympathy for some poor people in the NY area who suffered far more than apparently some here have over 9/11 ....
I have friends in NYC who are still terrified at the sight and sound of any airliner that seems a bit too close for comfort .... can't blame them .... the 747 thing was just plain stupid .... period!!!

I think the entire thing is much ado about nothing. It is basically a contrived sob story for people who want to complain about the government, just like this entire TSA thread. It is obviously extremely hard for some people to put emotion aside and think about it in a logical manner. What about the people who live near the airports in New York? Are they not scared by low flying planes only the folks in Manhattan? Did they think the escorting the F-16's were being flown by the Al-kaka network or that they were just out of ammo?

It seems a lot of people think nothing has been done in 7 years plus to prevent another hijacking. No wonder New Yorkers voted the way they did last year.

And your point is? The people who live near airports in New York are used to seeing low flying airplanes land and take off all the time. The people in Manhattan are not used to seeing large planes crash into buildings, killing hundreds of people. It may have been much ado about nothing for most, but a contribed sob story for people who experienced 9/11 first hand I would think would be a stretch. As for the rest of the folks who live in NY I would probably agree with your statement.

You bet it is when you personally witness people falling from burning buildings that large jets just crashed into ... and when you see fighers flying next to a low flying 747 near lower Manhattan .... and know very little about aviation like we WIXers know ... you gotta cut em some slack ... but that's just me ...
