This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Not just the airplanes, but the Hill Country will soon have a 2800-3350 overhaul facility to keep all those Texas warbirds going. Will they have to get an export license to send em North of the Red River?

CAF Airsho.......late September or early October...Midland, TX...every year. ;-)

Um ... NOT. Airsho barely breaks into double digits in fighters in a good year; in off years (like when they brilliantly schedule opposite the Gathering of Mustangs) they get 6 or 8. But if Pardue, Cavanaugh, Lone Star, Lewis, Friedkin, and oh yeah, the CAF wings, could be persuaded to make a max effort, they could get into the territory I'm talking about.

You guys are correct about Lone Star and Cavanaugh being open for business and well worth seeing. Midland, I don't think is worth the trip other than at Airsho time. However, this thread is about whether the recent INFLUX of warbirds is turning Texas into a warbird heaven, not whether there were already some nice warbirds to see there. My point is that thus far, the recent influx of warbirds into Texas has not created any greater opportunities for the vast majority of enthusiasts to see them nor made Texas any more of an attractive warbird destination than it was.

The potential is there, though.

Not sure I'd call it warbird heaven. Wouldn't that mean all the warbirds in Texas were dead?

My fuselage came from Texas. :)
