For those interested the annual Bluebonnet Picnic, hosted by the Alamo Liaison Squadron will be held on April 25th at Cannon Field (53TX on the San Antonio sectional chart). As always fly-in visitors are more than welcome as well as our ground-bound friends. We intend to hold our traditional event including a fundraising barbeque, fly-in, aerial competitions, raffle, and more. The event is free to attend and open to the public. This year's picinic will be catered.

To see pictures of last year's event go to: http://www.als-cannonfield.com/AnnualPicnic.htm

There's also a PDF flyer you can open and print out.

Here's my favorite picture from last year's event:

This was the WWII L-bird pilot who flew on Okinawa with the 163rd Liaison Squadron who visited us last year. It was his first time to ride in an L-5 for more than 50 years.

Well, things are shaping up so far! We've been doing some formation practice and spent Saturday cleaning up the field and working on final plans. If you're in the San Antonio area, come on out and join us.
Amazingly enough, while it's harder and harder to find WWII vets who are up to coming to events like this, it looks as though we'll have two or three L-bird pilots from WWII coming out - including one fellow traveling all the way from Utah with family, so this will be a "don't" miss event if you're into Lbirds.
Rain date is May 2nd, but we're having the barbeque catered - so if I don't post anything here, we're on rain or shine come Friday morning.

That may be my biggest problem. My ace photographer sisters won't be there and my camera is broken - not to mention that I probably shouldn't shoot while I'm flying formation.

Try a shout out to a local photo club or two. We recently had a "Steam Engine Day" (RR) with a couple photo clubs showing up and taking thousands of pics, just make sure to set up some way to link or share pics somehow.

Promise Up Close and Personal interaction with REAL Warbirds!
