BTW, I know people are going to ask. The TBM is Hank Avery's old airplane. Its in the registry and was restored in Vermont.

I love the sound of the De Havilland Ghost engine. A real blast from the past. What a pity that it has the Swiss modified nose instead of the original shape. The old girl only needed a short run before becoming airborne, and the gear sucked up as quickly as ever. Her real forte was the climbing turn and when she was in service nothing could latch on to her tail when she did that. The Swiss appreciated the way it could twist and turn in the mountain passes and kept her in service for many years because of it.

I have always liked those. never flown one and Ive only been around one (that was belly landed) but I really like the lines!

The C-47 is BusinessAir, they flew cargo in the northeast. I dont remember how many they had, think 7 or 8. All were painted in WW2 markings. Think all of them were veterans.

BTW, the C-47 is N57NA, I think she is now the one hanging in the D-Day museum in LA. I know its a former BusinessAir airplane but I can remember if it was N57NA or N58NA that went.

That's rather ironic -- I just uncovered a photo of N57NA in my archived stacks last night when it was in Nashua, NH getting maintenance from Dave Normandeau (sp?). It was my first year in college there and it was great! The C-47 and the Legend Airways DC-3 were always there, Chris Peatridge had the C-2 Trader there (and threatened to kick me off the airport when I walked down the ramp to see) and the old C-45 that Pat Whitehouse and Jim Vocell owned (when it was still blue and orange...).
