I visited the A&S Udvar-Hazy center yesterday. This was the first time I have been there, and the place was fantastic! I visited the Mall A&S Museum on Friday.

Here are most of the WWII warbirds on display at U-H.

Fantastic pictures! I love the darkness of your shots! Especially the dark P-38!

Thanks for the compliments. All the pics were with a small point and shoot.
I know the pics are not perfect, but I did what I could. :)
The museum provides visitors with fantastic photo opportunities with the mezzanine levels.

I'll upload a few more. ;)

shilo53, I was very surprised to see how big the Dornier was, it was a very large aircraft!

Perfect contrast between past and present! I was there in 92 and took the same pictures of the zero, machi, sbd etc. I am not diminishing your trip or pictures but trying to make a point about the difference between past and present. If you have more please post em'! Thank you for sharing you experience!

Great pictures Dan
Can anyone fill me in on the rough looking P-38?
Very interesting!

I know what you mean. The WWII gallery on the Mall has not changed since I was there in 94 or 95 either.

The Mall museum was jam packed on Friday afternoon when I visited. I think it is the right venue for getting our nations general aviation history to the general public.

Udvar-Hazy never felt crowded on Monday afternoon. All of the aircraft could be viewed and photographed from multiple angles. It is a great leap forward compared to the Mall location. Both serve important purposes. I look forward to my next visit to U-H!

The P-38 is wearing it's wartime paint. It was based out of Wright-Patterson and flown on a test flight by Dick Bong.

My only complaint about U-H was that there was not enough information about the history of the aircraft/artifacts on display. There was a paragraph or two about the type history and then only a line or two about each particular airframe... but I guess that is just the anorak in me... :D
