Martin 250 interrupter label

Hey folks;

I'm trying to reproduce the label on the interrupter concerning clearance adjustment, but some of the one I have is rusted away so I don't have the full text. "IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT..."
Can anyone help with this?

What about the chap in the states that had loads of Martin parts? might even have a new one complete with label?

Hmmm....That's something I'll have to look at in a photo or in the parts manual. I do not know what that looks like. Was it a sticker or a plate? I'm headed to the turret parts hangar this afternoon. I'm way behind on the turret parts sorting project but I'll take some time to have a look.

Joe, I assume you are putting a Martin in a Lancaster right? As far as I can tell the Martin 250CE5 that Emerson built here in town for the B-24s was the same basic turret as the 250CE23 that was used in the Lancaster Mk IV, V, and X. As far as I know, Emerson did not build the -23 but I'm I assume the Emerson Martins had the same warning text. I looked in two Martin manuals and did not find the placard or decal text but I'll look in some other manuals on Sunday.

I'm sure there is a fellow WIXer who can provide a photo of the text but If nothing else, perhaps I can offer some guesses. Maybe Peter can do the same.

Here's the sticker from one of my Martins....

"IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT WHEN INSTALLING INTERRUPTER THAT GEARING BACKLASH BE HELD BETWEEN .001 AND .004. READ MAINTENANCE MANUAL CAREFULLY BEFORE SERVICING. INTERRUPTER FACTORY SEALED WITH AIRPLANE MODEL DESIGNATIONS STAMPED ON CAM CYLINDER IDENTICAL WITH THOSE LISTED BELOW. INTERRUPTER WILL FIT ONLY THESE AIRPLANES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE ON ANY OTHER AIRPLANE."

The above parenthesis are my own and do not show on the original water transfer. Each a/c type the interrupter made for will be listed underneath the text; PV-2 here for the one on my a/c. I have a B-24 N unit that is identical. Granted, both turrets are late war production.

Water transfer decal originally used. Creme or white background with black text, all caps, and no colour used in this water transfer.

If you need a photo of original I will supply. PM and be patient. I WIX infrequently these days and lack of an instant response is not my attempt to come across as an anti-social aXX-hole. Which, in retrospect, is what I am.

Just before checking back with this thread and seeing your post, I was playing with contrast and saturation on the scan I made of ours - it's about 1/3 obliterated by rust, and that was the very text I ended up with after looking at all the clues I could find, and determining what 'made sense'.
From the scan I have been able to cut and paste nearly every letter I need to reconstruct the text. After much cleaning up, straightening and filling in the blanks, I think it's going to turn out fine. Once I'm satisfied I'll post before and after pics if anyone is interested.
