Vlado, what did you do to their plane ? remember, not all planes have the little wheel in the back, on some they are in the front........

They did try to tell me you did it, but I don't believe it!! I hope you'll come fly with us again! We should have the F86 back in the air in the next few weeks. We have an engine in the hangar.

(I was enroute with the rated pilot in the front, to do a check ride for that pilot. On gear extension, the right gear would not indicate locked down. Landing was sucessful. Either the actuator or hydraulic line failed. Best part: nothing scratched.)

The important thing is you came back in one piece Vlado. Good to hear that these aircraft are in such good shape and are taken care of.

Hi Vlado,
Pretty sure the o-ring in the actuator gave up the ghost and was bypassing fluid not letting it extend or retract normally. Hope to get it home next week and am pulling both main actuators for reseal. Not as worried about scratches on the machine as scratches on the pilots.

Just an update to this thread. We have received some of our engine parts and are back to working on this project. I will be headed North to Oshkosh tomorrow to install these parts as well as fix some of the minor squawks that we still have. I'll update this thread more now as we put our focus on returning the A4 to the air.

I'm going to resurect this thread as we continue to get more engine parts in on a weekly basis now. We just lack the fuel pump and we'll have everything we need to put the engine back together. Then we can install it and reassemble the airplane. We still have a busy month ahead of us for January with a few projects to finish at home, but anticipate working on the A4 full steam in February. We plan a few changes to our Skyhawk which we'll just keep our little secret for now. Stay tuned for new updates on a more regular basis!!

Sorry to keep all you A4 admirers waiting on news. We're wrapping up on a project now and will be heading North to work on the Skyhawk soon. Check our website in the next couple of weeks for a Foundation announcement!

Did you know that the Canadian Sabre One has Tudor seats installed. Probably easier to get parts and service as they are currently available with recent pyro. I have found the maintainer if you'd like his number.

It's finally good to be back to work on the A4. We've wrapped up some work on a few other projects we had going and headed up to Oshkosh yesterday to get our minds back in this project. There's been a number of A4 projects popping up for sale recently and I have to say we have a really good airplane. It is in excellent shape as the Combat Jets guys did an outstanding job with this airplane in the late 80's.
On to some pictures:
I primarily worked on the engine as I put one of our pilots to work on closing up the fuel panels in the engine bay. The two of us managed to get quite a bit done for the day.
Here's a picture of the magneto generator after being installed on the J65:
Here's the Utilty hydraulic pump after installation:
and here is the flight control system hydraulic pump after installation:
We also finished installing the fuel distribution blocks and are left with installing the oil pump, fuel pump and fuel control.
Stay tuned for more pictures as we are now reassembling our airplane!
