On December 7th 1941 two SOC Seagulls took off from USS Northampton. During thier flight the SOC's accountered a Japanese A6M2 Zero. A small dog fight developed. At the end of the air combat both SOC's were damaged but survived. The A6M2 was also damaged by the SOC's rear gunners. The Zero returned to its carrier.

Never knew that. I second the observation, imagine flying in thinking about time off on Hotel Street and wham some strange airplane starts shooting at you.
