This forum is about warbirds and to a lesser extent military aviation, and thats it.
.. Then why the need for an open forum? Aren't you asking for what you have been getting?
That has always been my understanding on other websites I belong to/lurk on... That the open forum is OPEN, that is, it is off topic, and open to any and all discussions, other than subjects which might be deemed illegal... And usually they are where the gloves come off, and a good dustup is tolerated- until it reaches the point of threats or of repetitive "Do not!","Do Too" "Nuh-uh!" "Uh-huh!" tit for tat spiraling into madness. But open discussions on politics and religion, and cars, and anything else should be allowed- All things which do not belong on the main pages, and all things which should be open to discussion to an open mind. Because even a closed mind may learn by being exposed to an open one.
Personally, I don't mind dustups and on-line argument. I try not to engage in it, but occasionally will, if I feel I want my point heard. But once heard, and defended, and argued over, I hold no malice to the others. Sorta like a schoolyard fight many years back- Sure, you tussled, threw a few fists, but usually it ended up with both sides walking away laughing together. Those should be allowed in the "Open" or 'Off Topic" forums, but not in the main forums. And those who intentionally provoke should be sidelined- but those who get into a good argument, well, they provide information, insight, and entertainment...
Just my 2 cents.
As to the banning, well, you gotta do what you gotta do. I enjoy this site quite a bit, as does everyone associated with it. We want to keep it going.
