I must say I think it would be kinda cool to see a Vietnam battle, complete with Spads, AC-47s, F-4's, Hueys, Pyro, .....you get the picture.

BTW, How many Hueys could we see come in for the show? How many could be used for an effective reenactment for a dust off?

Believe it or not, but their is quite a bit of hardware in that neck of the woods!!

Here is my thought. Being that I am a Vietnam war Historian on truck Trans units in Vietnam. Using that road in the bean field. Several deuce-n-halfs and a jeep or 3 as a convoy with a couple of guntrucks for support. Enemy opens fire, convoy haulted. Gun trucks respond to the enemy, CONTACT CONTACT CONTACT is out on the radio. Air support on the way.................O-1 or O-2 makes a pass marks the smoke. A-4 and F-4 from collings foundation roll in HOT and Heavy. Action resides and a lone skydiver comes in the view, a pilot has been shot down. In roll the sandys to support the pilot up close. The rescue helicoper, the S-58 from the foundation in PA (marine corps). Pilot rescued but now it has turned from Save to Search and destroy. A lone OH-6A comes in and hovers the tree tops, it jinks left then right.............Taking fire. In rolls the UH-1m on a rocket run. Enemy found bring in the CAV................3 hueys in trail with troops!!!!!! Now we have them on the ground!!!

This could be done very easy!!!!

The S-58 is an H-34 and the gunship rolling in would be a Marine UH-1E !!

Now that’s how you make history entertaining!!! Seems like you should coordinate these battles for a living. Sounds like you have an eye for it! The bean field has been an awesome reenactment field for the past few years for WWII reenactors, and I believe it will only look better with Vietnam hardware above in the skies and on the ground.

But I have a hard time believing that they'll be enough Vietnam reenactors and vehicles out there to make the show as evenly leveled as the WWII battles were. I mean I hope Im wrong and somebody somewhere has a shipping container filled with Viet-Cong wear.

Believe it or not but even tho its not as big as Civil War or WW2 Reenactment, there is a very large following of Vietnam Reenactors. Even a percentage of WW2 and Civil War guys I bet have a Vietnam set up. What suprises me is the amount of guys that are actual Veterans of the conflict that still participate but for them, they are there for the preservation and to make sure that the rest of us grunts get it right. To make this work, it will take a no date confrontation and know where to advertise it..................but if you tell them that their will be F-4's overhead and a ride on skids into a bean field.................They will come!!
