Okay, here's a good one for y'all...

Guess all you like, as I don't have a clue as to what it is either.
If someone can show pictures of what it went on (clearly some sort of engine), then that would count as an extra bonus.

It is a main case for Aeronca E107, or an E-113 engine. They were the two cyl engines that powered the famous Aeronca C-2 and C-3 aiplanes. I have had a bunch of both engines, and several of the planes, over the years. I think the cases were the same but the cylinders and valves and cranks changed though their evolution from original 30 hp, all the way to 45 hp at the end.

That was fast. WIX is great.

If the pics are correct it would be E-113.
The E-107 has a different lower end.

We have a winner! Do you need an ADI tank for an AU-1 (F4U-7) Corsair? ;-)

Okay, one last one for y'all for now, and this should be an easy one. What type of engine (a little fella) did this piston come from and why are the grooves in the side like that?

I've got gobs of stuff like this at Austin Acres, so if you want me to keep posting interesting and/or odd stuff like this, just let me know.

1. Internal combustion engine.

2. Because they didn't have enough material to completely fill in the grooves. If they put the grooves in the top it wouldn't work right, so they put them in the side where it didn't matter.

Thermal expansion slots. No idea what it fits. Must be something old though.
