RE: The national insignias... I would have never noticed them being black until you said something. (I never noticed before).

I just figured they were a dark blue.

Keep up the good work guys. :)

Gary & Dave, if you continue to hear about it, just paint a big red meatball in the middle of the star... then no one will notice the black...

When you coming? I'll set up a room, get some tape, buy the right colors. Do you want to do it by hand, spray paint cans, air brush, just let me know so I can have what you need. I'll probably have some other stuff to paint if thats you're thing!

Great work guys!

I remember the first time I saw Fifi, she had "Confederate Air Force" painted in big letters on the fuselage. I take it she'll acquire the new logo sticker when she returns to flight status?

How about YOU come down and do it? :? Sorry, but my crew and I spent 15,000 hours and 19 months of labor replacing structural components on the airplane and getting around to painting the nose section was all I was able to get done, since it had to be repainted anyway. After that, the engines took a dump on us...remember? You were the one at the engineer's station on the last flight. After that, all that's been on my radar screen for the Squadron has been a re-engine projects and some B-24 reconfiguration project that came and went. Painting the insignias the correct color are not in my immediate future. But I promise you that Dave, and the rest of the B-29/B-24 Squadron would love to have you take care of it. Thanks for volunteering to do that for us! :D

Ugh. You guys have all done amaing work. I think that there are many huge steps that the CAF is taking that is just awesome. The new logo is not one of them, but keep up the great work. I really want to come down and help. Even if it means just doing nasty dumb work, it would be awesome to work on Fifi.

The exhaust is being modified from an existing system from an "early" Connie, but not the early, early ones with the forward facing exhaust. I'm sorry, but I just don't know my Connies all that well. All I know is that I gave Nelson an exhaust system from an engine here that is supposedly from a Connie (he agrees). It will certainly require some modifications, but nothing that can't be done. We do need to find more of these setups, however, so be on the lookout for them. We frequently hear, "I heard there was some here..." or "I heard about some guy in Arizona or New Mexico that has some...." but no real leads. If someone here has some exact info on the location of some of this exhaust, then please let me know.

Thanks,
Gary[/quote]

Still waiting for someone to locate some more of these Connie exhaust's?
Please let Gary or I know if you have found them.

Dave
