I see on the Tora website for the CAF, that they have more than 15 aircraft but at every recent photo posting of an airshow, I've only seen six to five aircraft together. So, why hasn't there been a mass gathering by the CAF or some outside group of the entire Tora fleet? Im sure to some of you other WIXers this would be a cool gathering.

You need to come to Texas. We often have 10-15 at shows. I'm pretty sure that there were close to 15 at WOH this weekend.

For the CAF Midland Show, we had about 8 Tora birds... Not because they were not flying, but because almost all of the pilot owners and sponsors live near or around Galveston and were trying to repair or salvage their homes... Hey Tulio or Ryan... post a bunch of pics of the Tora birds this weekend from WOH. Alan

Of course I completely understand about any of the pilots lives and there families that have been interrupted from the many storms that have pounded the South Eastern Coast. But this is just a fantasy I was daydreaming about. :P

They're all together each spring at Brazoria County Airport when they practice their routine. Complete with pyro and announcer.

Tulio, Your shots actually sparked me to create this thread. I guess all of the aircraft weren't parked together for the show.

Pipe Dream: 2 New-Build P-40Cs are created by or for the Tora group. Now that would make the group one interesting reenactment!

Have any pilots ever reported on the flight characteristics of each Tora design? I imagine the "Zero" is on par with a standard T-6, but do either the "Val" or the "Kate" design have any bad tendancies?

Looks like owning a Tora bird would be a heck of a way to rack up time during the show season. 8) 8) I'd love to putter around in that red tailed Val. :D

So from the pics I've found from WOH would I be close to saying that there must have been:

4 Kates
2 Vals
7 Zeros

WKid:

I began to shoot all the TORA! birds upon their return to the ramp on Friday, but got distracted and did not complete the shoot.

On Saturday however, I counted -but did not photograph- 13 of them heading out first to the holding area before taking off.

Saludos,

Tulio

Tulio,

What did you think of the large bomb that was underneath one of the Kates?? I thought it was pretty cool. Im told that was the Kate that bellied in some time back and the torpedo was destroyed.

One is:

P.S. as far as I know they are not part of the Tora act anymore and owned by someone else. Not sure who just know that a Val and Kate usually show up at Geneseo each year. This pic taken back in 2007.
