Here we go again .... No one's "bitching and moaning, we're "WARBIRD" enthusiasts ..... we're supposed to critique and debate any and all warbirds past and present. If we can't have robust debates about all things warbird, then why even have these forums? .... Maybe we should just look at all the pretty pictures and be happy with that only, just like playboy magazines, except I do read the articles too .... right!!!!

I suspect this is a marketing tool and a toy for Red Bull. Maybe the next owner will re-restore the aircraft to a stock configuration? I agree that the primary history of this aircraft is post-war. I don't happen to care too much for the intake scoops, but I like the rest of the aircraft. It is very aerodynamically clean like you would expect an Art Deco era aircraft to be.

While I don't care for the Bull on the airplane...that's the only thing that even hints of a drawback on this machine....

Look at the smiles that erupt when you stand too close to it!

Of course their smiling  ... it's because you can easily see the beautiful airplanes behind them without turning around. But looking at those two, it's hard to figure out what their smiling about ... haha .... that was a joke ....

Wonderful P-38, I hope to see her once before she goes far, far away ... Anyone who has seen her in person, up close are very lucky indeed.

Mark the jealous!!!

BTW, WTF is going on with this website, I know I'm a great speller and usually have great grammer, unless I'm drunk, (haha, and no I'm not drunk right now) but when I go to re-read my posts to see if they make any sense, I see all kinds of spelling errors.

UGH!!!!!

Mark the obsessed speller!!!

Examples:

When I type "F*ck it" .... it comes out "Flukwerk"
When I type B*llsh*t .... it comes out "Red Bull"
When I type A**hole .... it comes out with some WIXer login name called "Hellcat".
When I type Mother F*cker .... it comes out with some political Bill Greenwood thread ... hehe
When I type "Burn in H*ll" .... it comes out with all you spoiled guys who haven't taken me up in your warbird for a rollercoaster ride.

Is there some sort of "built-in" sensor for guys like me? .... haha

haha .... All a joke above, it's a beautiful day here in Las Vegas and I actually won $1,200.00 at blackjack last night, now I'm only down .... ugh!!!! ... I just ruined my day now ....

OK, time to get out of this house ....

Peace

Mark the long winded today

I love it! Looks great, and the combo of the olive green anti-glare panels, polished metal, and red & white stripes are excellent. And it sure beats a nice thick coat of silver paint and yet another "Marge" quasi-scheme....

Also considering that this is pretty much the only '38 that is stll in a Civi scheme is kinda cool. Like a 32 Ford, they all can't be Hot Rods.

Not that it matters, but I completely agree with your statement here. :-)

P-38’s are rare, but I think there’s still enough room among the surviving flyers for one excellent “restomod” example. There’s something zenishly wicked about a precise, state-of-the-art execution on a classic design. I got the same feeling when I spotted that unmarked, mirror-polished P-51D at the 2002 Gathering of Corsairs in Indiana.

I’d lay bet that the Red Bull P-38 is probably the safest P-38 flying because of the engineer’s freedom to cut corners on authenticity for the sake of modern convenience and technology - almost to a fault, but maybe not quite. 8)

No casino room service, staying in a private home here in LV, but room service still was great ....

BTW ... any reason for the "white" instrument panel in the RB cockpit? Is it just an owner thing or a real reason for it to be white? Also, I would like to hear from someone who has flown in the back of a P-38 like the fellow that looked cramped back there in RB. I would have been hurting for months if I tried to fit back there. But I'm sure it was well worth it.
