This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Rumor has it that it is presently being stored, with no work in progress

For what it's worth, I made an inquiry with the museum with the intent to update material for a revised edition of Final Cut that is forthcoming. No one at the museum seemed to know, and no one at Vulcan Warbirds seemed to know. I was finally forwarded to someone who knew what was going on, left a message on voice mail, and did not get a return call.
Oh well.
Last I heard (about two years ago), the fuselage was in storage at Arlington (possibly since moved) and the wings had been sent out for work to persons unidentified, but nothing was actually being worked on.

Well thank god that it is a flyer and not just sitting in a static museum.

Maybe I don't get it, but why is everything such a secret? This is a small group of people that are really into warbirds why not let them in on what's going on. I am not referring to this museum alone, but it just seems to be a trend right now. Don't tell anyone about this project? Why on earth would you do that?

Chris, it might be financial considerations or just preselected folks to do the work who don't have the time to answer phone calls from inquisitive minds. Knowledge of an enterprise might drive the cost's up in a bid situation?

Chris
The secrets are kept because most of these guys into making large purchases and deals don't want the world to know what extra money they have laying around to spend on warbirds.
Imagine working out a price on any deal with another guy (non warbird deals too, god forbid) when they can read about your 2 million dollar project aircraft that you are "rushing" to get to Osh Kosh in 4 years at 65-85$ an hour 10 hours a day @ 4 men @ 6 days a week?
It does not bode well for negotitations trust me........

There are pictures of the restored tail gun section floating around (maybe even on WIX a while ago?) from when it was on display at the "old" location. I saw it when I toured there two years ago. Haven't ever seen a shinier one!
