It doesn't look like you'll be seeing the Yellow Rose at Midland this year. The overhauled engine that was just hung on the left side didn't last through the first flight.

Wow, when I first started with the Rose we hung the #1 engine and went from there. Has it been on since the early 90's like 1990? We took them to someone in OKC. Its been a few years since then.....

I believe these were probably the same engines. They both had 1000 hours, plus or minus a few, on them.

My first involvement with the Rose was in 1977, I vacuumed three and a half shop vacs full of Myrex out of the waist compartment. Afterwards I learned that it was discontinued because it was found to cause cancer, and I wasn't wearing a respirator!

When it was parked at KSAT, a friend of mine worked for Braniff and we would crawl all thru it, Myrex+cancer=

This is my first attempt at posting a photo on WIX...it was taken from the back seat of CAF's P-51 "Red Nose" on Friday afternoon.

Thanks Lynn!

When I initially tried to upload the the pic, all that showed up was a link to my photobucket account. Zane fixed it afterwards.

Stan Musick was doing the driving; WOW! What an experience. My camera quit working about half way through the flight :| , I got back to the hotel room that evening, removed and reinstalled the lens and it worked fine.
