IIRC, this was one of the ones used to develop F6F drones:

I don't know if the yellow one on eBay is a drone conversion.

One of the distinguishing features of the drone conversion was an extended tail landing gear. That isn't on the eBay picture but it could have been early in the program...

My dad saw alot of these at NAAS Ream Field near San Diego CA during the early 50's. They were assigned to a drone squadron that shared the field with his helicopter squadron .
